Now you can terraform planets to a small extent so if a planet is practically perfect except it has say a small quantity of gas that is poisonous to humans you can remove this gas though depending on the amount of terraformers you commit to the task this could take decades plus you would need to send some kind of container ships to the planet to cart the gas away.Īdding oxygen to an oxygen low planet like Mars is really tricky as again you can send terraformers to do the work however now you have to take into account what effect the oxygen would have on the atmosphere as a whole plus the human race has an oxygen tolerance level of 30% and so you would have to add other safe gasses to make the atmosphere 100% so adding just oxygen won't do the trick, the problem here is that all gasses have either a positive or negative greenhouse effect so if your not careful you could add a gas that makes Mars to hot for your race so it could become a nasty juggling act just to make it habitable and all this costs resources and most of all time. This game takes this to the extreme, not only does it have to be an oxygen planet but there has to be a certain percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere, there can be other gasses too but they cannot be harmful to your race, the gravity has to be within a certain tolerance level and the temperature has to also be within your races tolerance level. Most space exploration games let you scan and find planets that you can build colonies on right and if you pick an oxygen breathing planet and you're human then you're generally ok, if you find a methane planet then there's normally an option you can research that lets you build colonies on Methane planets. Here's a loose example of the complexity of this game. This game is complex and I have no idea how the guy who made it found the time to add so many options into it, like I say I played a tutorial last night that taught me how to look at the map, gave me a rough idea of how to research components and how to design a ship and er that was it -SIX hours people. It took me well over six solid hours just to work through a basic tutorial I found on their wiki page and it barely taught me anything at all lol. Ok you sparked my interest so I tried this last night and I have one word for you WOW!!!! However, it´s seems that people who like it, love it. In the PI forums people have told me about these games (all less than 5 years old.
